Destination wedding in Cape May

Way back in October we photographed Jean and Brandon’s seaside wedding in the lovely town of Cape May, NJ. Jean and Brandon were guests at Erica and Gunner’s wedding here in Kennebunkport and when they asked us to come to Cape May to photograph their wedding we were so excited. Chris and I have never been to that area of New Jersey and it was really beautiful. The Congress Hall where the ceremony and reception took place was a grand historic hotel that was a perfect backdrop to their events. We arrived the day before and were able to capture their rehearsal on the lawn and attend their dinner that evening. Brandon has three children who were really fun and together with Jean they make a great family, we tried to take a lot of family shots of them together. We also met some wonderful people and enjoyed reconnecting with old friends Erica, Gunner and their new son. We were not able to stay for the entire weekend as we had to leave after their reception and travel directly to Martha’s Vineyard for Amrita and Steve’s wedding, which is blogged below. I chose a few to highlight here and there are many more on our website under destination weddings.

Taryn and John

Taryn and John’s wedding at the Nonantum in October was a bit wet! It was a tropical storm and the rain came down in sheets all night. The ceremony, planned for outside by the river had to be moved in to the ballroom, it was quite lovely thanks to Judy of Flora Fauna. It felt very intimate during the ceremony and we were able to take some photos outside in the rain and also in the awesome Sperry Tent. Taryn and John have a great sense of humor and were just so happy to be getting married they did not let the rain bother them at all! The wedding party also had a sense of humor and none of the girls complained when we asked them to walk in the rain in their heels to the edge of the property. Tayrn was smart and pulled on her wellies. The cake was made by Let Them Eat Cake and was decorated by Judy and her apples. There were apples everywhere they even served candied apples for dessert! Chris and I were so happy to be able to capture the day for them and here are a few favs:

Dawn and Joe

Dawn and Joe got married on one of rare rainy Saturday’s in September. At times the rain came down in sheets and it paused at times to allow for some fun outside shots. The Sperry tent was perfect for the affair keeping out all the rain. Dawn has a large family so this was one of the largest wedding parties we have had and they were all well behaved! It was so fun because we are friends with Dawn’s sister and we knew a lot of the folks at the wedding which is rare for us. Dawn and her family did a lot of the work for the wedding themselves including all the flowers and table arrangements. I loved the Fuji camera that produced instant prints for the guests to sign, it was very stylish and fun. The band, Modern Manners was fantastic and kept everyone on the floor all night. Dawn and Joe are such a great couple and you could tell they are really in love which makes for a warm feeling all around. Here are a few favs:

Cassie and Jake’s Breakwater wedding

Cassie and Jake are from Texas and decided to have a destination wedding at the Breakwater in Kennebunkport in September. It was a really fun wedding with two cakes, the bride’s cake was inspired by the Lily Pulitzer dresses the gals wore and the groom’s cake was Texas inspired. The most unique thing I have seen in all my years of wedding photography was the bride’s dress was GREEN and it was beautiful. The Breakwater made for a great location and the Sperry tent was of course fantastic. Melissa from Fleurant did the flowers and arrangements and Let Them Eat Cake made the cakes. Lex and Joe provided the music that kept everyone on the dance floor all night. It was a great wedding and we were so happy to be there to capture all the details. Here are a few favs:

Jillian and Fowler at The Retreat at French’s Point

I love the Retreat at French’s Point in Stockton Springs, Maine. The owners Jess and Fred are super nice and really care about their clients. This was a fall wedding with perfect weather and a beautiful Sperry Tent. Judy from Flora Fauna did the decor and flowers and they were outstanding! I loved the couch she brought in for a sitting area and the antiques she set out were just great. The guest enjoyed lounging in this area all evening long. I have included a lot of the detail images here because I loved them. Jillian and Fowler had a great time and really enjoyed every minute of their wedding including the sparkler send off at the end. Here are some photos:

Meghan and Dimitri Goose Rocks Beach wedding

Meghan and Dimitri had their wedding directly on Goose Rocks Beach on a day where the weather was very sketchy. It was raining when I arrived at the Ocean Woods Resort and it continued to rain, then stop, then rain, then get foggy. The bride and groom wanted to wait it out with pressure from all family members who wanted to move it indoors. Well they stuck to the original plan and it worked out wonderfully. It was very foggy when I arrived at the beach, but when Chris and the girls arrived it was just gorgeous. After the ceremony we took a few beach shots then we went over to a farm on Route 9 that overlooks the Marsh and really got some great images. The reception was held under a tent at Ocean Woods Resort  and the flowers were made by Blooms and Heirlooms. It was a great day and here are a few favs:

Fall wedding at the Nonantum Resort

Jenn and Jake were married at the beautiful Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport in September under sunny skies. Jenn and Jake met at a camp for diabetes and fell hard for each other. We took lots of images during the day of both their meters and their pumps and I have included a few here. The flowers were done by Minnotts and the cake by Let Them Eat Cake. The couple were awesome dancers and they kept the floor full all night long. Their first dance was fantastic I have never heard so many cheers! I really liked the shoes that the girls wore and the men’s suits were fantastic! Here are a few favs.

White Cliff Country Club

Another August wedding this time in Plymouth, Mass at White Cliffs Country Club which is a really unique place. Mariesa and Jarrett were so awesome and we now consider them friends. Mariesa was so much fun during all the preparation and even pumped her own gas in her gown! The location is amazing and although they do not allow the entire wedding party to take teh amazing stairs to the beach we were able to capture some cool shots of Mariesa and Jarrett. The flowers were very nice and done by Richard at Cedar Grove Gardens. The bagpipe player was a nice touch and everyone loved the bride and groom’s special dirty dancing dance! Here are a few favs:

Laudholm Farm wedding

Oh August, how I wish you were still here. This was the wedding of Christine and Jesse and it was great. The nieces and nephews really made the day special and also were wonderful material for us to photograph. I loved the “just marrid” sign the girls were writing in the barn and the bride and groom jamming with the bluegrass band. The wedding party sang a great song to the couple and Kitchen Chicks did a great job with all the food. The smutty nose beer station was a huge hit. Christine had an infectious smile and Jesse was so laid back and easy to work with. I am trying to catch up with blogging this week and I will be mixing some older events with some recent ones. Here are a few favs:
