President Bush visits Cape Able

President George W Bush has been in town for the last few days and the boys (Chris and Brandon) have had a great time riding the trails around here. On his way out of town today President Bush stopped by Cape Able Bike Shop to see where his cool Trek Mountain Bike(complete with presidential seal and his name on the side) that Brandon built for him will be kept until his next visit. Here are some shots of the staff, Brandon giving him a tour and Marcio cleaning his bike to get ready for the visit.

Memorial Day Parade in Kennebunkport

We have a very special Memorial Day Parade here in the Port with a very important veteran and his wife. Former President Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush have attended the parade for as long as I have been here (18 years). They always greet the crowd and give a few remarks. This year Chris was there with the kids and took a few photos. 41 sure looks good for almost 85!

Biking in Crawford

Last weekend Chris and his buddy, Brandon from Cape Able Bike made a trip to Crawford to bike with their friends and President Bush. It was a relaxing trip and fun was had by all. I like the photo of the bikes loaded in the back of the van for the trip from Austin to Crawford and all the photos of the signs announcing that Crawford is Bush country.

travel

Chris and I are heading to Norfolk, Virginia to photograph the commissioning of the aircraft carrier, George H.W. Bush (CVN-77). Here is a photo of the craft in the water a few years ago, taken by Chris Oaxley. We are looking forward to seeing lots of friends and enjoying the waterfront area of Norfolk.

Chris’s trip to Camp David

Chris and Brandon(who owns Cape Able bike shop) traveled to DC and Camp David last weekend to ride bike with President Bush and a group of excellent riders. After the biking through Camp David, where the trails were great according to Chris, the group had lunch and a tour of Marine One and the entire camp. Here are a few shots of Marine One, a group shot of the riders and a few scenics that Chris took in DC. I will post the White House Photos when they arrive.

Getting muddy with President Bush

These are some fun pics from Chris’s mountain bike rides with President Bush in the Washington DC area last Fall. It was a very rainy, muddy weekend and when Chris returned to the hotel he had to ask for a hose to clean his bike off. These were sent to us from the White House Photographer and were a great representation of the fun they had those 2 days.Chris is looking forward to more great rides this Spring/Summer when 43 comes to visit his folks here in Maine. bushbike.jpg

George Bush Library and Museum in Texas

Last weekend we were honored to have been invited to College Station, Texas to the grand re opening of the George Bush Library and Museum. The most exciting event of the weekend was when President Bush jumped out of a plane with the Golden Knights Parachute team. He surprised everyone , even his family. College Station is a fun college town where the Aggies rule and are not afraid to tell you. In fact, the President of the student body gave a very moving speech about Aggie spirit and the commitment to service that every Aggie makes. About 20 Mainers made the trip to the event and it was so nice to see so many familiar faces in the sea of many that attended the event. The library itself is something to see and we were flattered to see many of the images we have taken over the years included in the exhibit. Following the event Chris and I traveled to Austin and San Antonio and I will be posting some of those images later this week. If you would like to see more from this event please visit .
